The world’s largest operational off-shore wind farm is busy churning out megawatts and powering up the UK grid with green and renewable energy. Called the London Array, the wind farm had its 175th turbine commissioned on Saturday afternoon and overtook the Greater Gabbard west farm, also in UK. The array has a capacity of 630 MW and was completed in December.

The grid is located 20 km (12.4 miles) off the Kent coast in south-eastern England and includes 3.6-MW turbines spread over an area of 90 sq km. the wind farm generates enough energy to power up half a million homes and reduce harmful CO2 emissions by over 900,000 tonnes a year and could also have a second phase constructed, pushing the capacity of this array to 870 MW.
