\nSekisui Jushi Corporation (SJC) and Kyocera Solar Corporation has come up with an eco-friendly design that work just great as bus-shelters and taxi-stands. Called the Eco-Shell, this public-use shelter uses solar energy to power up and sports a bunch of photovoltaic cells on its roof. The solar module by Kyocera powers up the shelter\u2019s lighting system that uses energy-conserving LEDs. The shelter will soon hit manufacturing lines and is now available exclusively in Japan only.<\/p>\n
\nThe developers of this one hope city councils to show interest as well as private firms, given that using these Eco-Shell shelters could very well reduce the strain on the Japanese power grid substantially.
