\nFord has come up with a brilliant new way to turn its cars of the future more fuel-efficient than ever. The
Ford<\/a> Dunton Technical Centre in the U.K. has cropped up a 1.0L three-cylinder with turbocharging, direct-injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) using EcoBoost technology that will work almost as well as a hybrid drivetrain when hooked on to a eight-speed automatic transmission, also developed by Ford. Hybrid cars<\/a> these days are a bit more expensive than gas-guzzlers, and with an engine like this, buyers will have an inexpensive option to great fuel economy<\/a>.<\/p>\n


\nPower performance of this engine will replicate that of a 1.6L four-cylinder as far as what we\u2019ve got wind of from Ford. For now, the engine hasn\u2019t landed up in the belly of any recent Ford, though we expect it to show up in the
Focus<\/a> and Fiesta in the future.
