Christened the Blythe Solar Power Project, this project is to be undertaken at Mojave Desert with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts. Besides just producing a load of green energy, the Blythe Project will also create about 604 construction jobs and 221 permanent jobs, giving some relief to the unemployment rate of 15% in California. The solar complex will generate enough energy to power up as many as 800,000 homes during peak operating hours and will be built in four 250-megawatt phases according to Karen Douglas, the energy commission\u2019s chairman.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nTo be constructed by German developer Solar Millennium, the Blythe Solar Power Project will cover up 9.3 square miles in Riverside County in Southern California  using  solar reflectors, liquid-filled tubes suspended over the mirrors  and electricity-generating turbines.
