It\u2019s a space ship! Hell no! It\u2019s the Centaurus II! This streamlined, weird-but-fast looking vehicle designed and developed by University of Minnesota is solar powered! And yeah, it\u2019s as fast as it looks. The Centaurus II will compete in the 2010 American Solar Challenge. And if you haven\u2019t heard of that before, it\u2019s a race over 1,100-miles from Tulsa to Chicago.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<object width=\"450\" height=\"271\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/GoP0oHWjcVM&#038;border=1&#038;color1=0xb1b1b1&#038;color2=0xd0d0d0&#038;hl=en_US&#038;feature=player_embedded&#038;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><\/object><br \/>\nThis 16 feet long, 6 feet wide and three feet high space-ship on wheels weighing around 400 pounds took 30 students around 50,000 hours to piece together. It sports solar panels on its entire body for maximized performance. This, along with its carefully chiseled-out aerodynamics, guarantees high speeds and a longer performing range.
