The company believes in the future use of this technology, making the automotive industry more energy efficient and the maintenance and use of cars cheaper. These vehicles are the environment friendly version of the Toyota Highlander using fuel cell stacks, power electronics and hydrogen storage tanks. The car was tested upon by the U.S. Department of Energy with results of 68 mpg equivalent and a 431 mile range. These fuel cell hybrid vehicles will be used in university, corporate and government fleets first in California and New York, the places playing host to General Motor\u2019s Project Driveway. The installation of refueling stations will lead to the use of these cars in those places.
