This project is one of the 40 schemes aimed at transforming the state into the world\u2019s largest solar energy hub. The state government of Gujarat has signed deals with 40 energy companies where each of them plan to generate anywhere between 5 and 50 mega watts of power. The government has already allocated 1500 hectares of land for the project and will also offer financial incentives for companies which will start generating electricity before December 2010.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe Gujarat plans will become a major boost to the government\u2019s hopes to make solar electricity generation financially competitive with electricity generated from coal-powered plants.
