Members of Cub Scout packs 294 and 261 from St. Clair have modeled out full size carts by recycling used materials for their annual Pinewood Derby. Patrick Martin, leader of Cub Scout Pack 261, believes that such an act will help to educate boys about an important green fact \u2013 \u2018though something may have come to the end of its useful life in one aspect, it may be helpful in another aspect. So think twice before you throw something away\u2019. Joseph Redlawski, 8, teamed with his brother, Luke, to shape up a car that included lots of recycled items. While the front wheels were from a wagon, the rears ones were from a golf cart. The wooden frame came from a friend&#8217;s dismantled barn. Also the hand brake was picked up from the derby car his brother built last year. Meant for a fun-filled race, kids had a blast crashing these cars while driving. Almost all the carts had safety belts, and Scouts wore helmets while racing.
