• Yamaha pulls the veil off new electric scooter, the EC-03

  • 3.jpgWe’ve seen electric scooters like the Honda EV-neo and the Yogo scooter zip by before. Yamaha have joined the ranks too, unveiling a new scooter with a heart and soul all electric. The EC-03 is as clean as it gets, with zero emissions. Asia is known for its scooter craze, and nothing fits better than this one, taken that’s its cheaper than its peers. In 2007, Yamaha slipped a toe in the electric market, with an electric bike, though the company withdrew quickly. The firm plans to step back in this time, yet again, though all set to make itself recognizable with the EC-03. Battery problems faced earlier have been resolved now, thanks to Sanyo coming to the rescue.

The scooter uses a 50V lithium ion battery from Sanyo, taking six hours to charge and delivering as much as 26.6 miles. Expected to cost around $2,800, this one sure could clean up the face of scooter users around Asia, without a carbon footprint.
