• Volkswagen presents an ‘Eco-Friendly’ Scirocco Cup for 2010

Lately many automobile companies have initiated the ‘Go Green’ initiative and organized corresponsing challenges and competitions. At one such competition the winning teams even got trophies made from Michelin tires. All this is done to focus on the least amount of negative impact on the environment. Volkswagen has joined in and has had its own version of green racing in Europe with the Polo Cup, but for 2010 they will be making the switch to a natural gas-powered Scirocco as the vehicle of choice for the one-make series. In their effort in going green, the ‘one-make’ car will feature a 2 liter four-cylinder engine fueled by Bio-CNG, which is produced using renewable sources like grass, corn or biological waste. Now isn’t that a good positive move. I’m sure many others will definitely follow suit if a big name such as Volkswagen has gone this path.
