Totyota has now been declared as the cleanest automaker in UK by Cleangreencars. Cleangreencars calculated that Toyota has a very clean lineup on an average, considering the CO2 emissions averaged with car sales. Toyota got itself to be the winner of this award only by stopping the sales of its 3 models- the MR2, the Previa and the Celica, and also by introducing a new small car model- the iQ. Its average went from 144.82g/km to 129.15 g/km in the initial 9 months of 2009 itself, thereby reaching the levels required for eligibility set by the EU legislation. The overall CO2 emissions for the average new car fell by 5.5 percent. The other winners in the past have been Fiat, Mini (last year’s winner) and Hyundai.
