Software engineer Raul Atkinson was also fed up of seeing electric cars that all looked like they jumped out of comic books or animation movies. So he made the all-electric Daytona replica – the Raptor. In just 2000 hours project, Atkinson fitted a 3-phase AC induction motor and 290 NiMH batteries along with a motor controller and some body work to remove accommodations for exhaust tips. This car can reach from 0 to 60 MPH in around 8 seconds with top speed of 100 MPH and a range of 80 between 3 hour recharges.

And as he boasts – “I can do what GM couldn’t”, the tags a price at $85,000, the car is far from ready for the roads. It hasn’t been certified for sale in the US as it still has a list of formalities and tests left before it becomes ready to be bought.
