• Napa premieres one of the first small hybrid buses with Prius-like engine

In a week or two, Napa Valley Unified School District will have one of the first small hybrid buses in the nation, with all thanks to state grant which is aimed at curbing school bus emissions and also with the commitment of the fleet manager who wants to make his fleet green. Bus Hy-2 is technically the second hybrid the district owns but the first with an engine similar to that of the Prius in California. The bus runs on gasoline and electricity and will be used to carry children with special needs. The mileage is expected to be around 15 miles a gallon compared to 10 miles a gallon previously. The bus costs $140,000 making it still costly to buy for most California school districts.
