Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Motors unveil solar-powered EV charging station in Cypress

Cypress, California, now plays home to the first solar-powered charging station for EVs in the region, put up by Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Motors. Brining Mitsubishi’s dream for a greener tomorrow to light, the system powered by 96, 175W photovoltaic modules from Mitsubishi Electric and will help juice up EVs like the Mitsubishi i, lined up for a November release. Capable of juicing for EVs at a time, the station has three different types of chargers with different voltage supplies, including a standard level 1 voltage (110v) charger that will deliver a 100% charge in just 22 hours; a level 2 (220v) charger which can replenish batteries in six hours; and a level 3 CHAdeMO Quick Charger, which can charge to 80% battery capacity in 25 minutes!

A laudable move by Mitsubishi Motors and Mitsubishi Electric, we hope to see more of these chargers show up around.
