• Electric powered roads for electric cars

Researchers in Korea have come with a cool idea where they removed the battery from electric cars and put electric strips in roads that keep cars charged on the fly. In the experimental technique, 8 by 35 inch strips would be directly put on top of the roads. The vehicles would have special magnetic devices on their undersides that would extract the energy from the strips as the cars drive by. The researchers have already built a working prototype of the system using a golf cart but are already working on developing it for cars and buses. The technique used for this is inductive charging allowing the use of magnetic fields to charge batteries wirelessly. These strips would be connected to electric powerstations at regular intervals. The cost would be approximately $318,000 per km of road.
