Atlanta Motorsports Park has signed a deal with Tilke Architects to redesign their planned driving course into a ‘green’ Motorsports Park concentrated on reducing carbon footprint. It will be a sustainable building design, waterless urinals, tank-less water heaters, reclaimed water for the irrigation system, recycling of garbage and oil, the maximum efficiency HVAC available, thermal resistant windows, supplementary insulation, and the use of high-efficient lighting and florescent bulbs. They will also focus on using regionally extracted, processed and manufactured materials, including certified wood, high albedo roofing to reduce heat absorption and minimize AC demand, solar powered fans for interior air movement, energy saving appliances, outlets, and smart switch technologies, maximizing open space to include conservation areas, a reclaimed water system that captures rainwater to irrigate landscaping and flush toilets, work diverting 50% of construction waste from landfills through recycling and install a storm water management system that reduces environmental impacts.

Also, during the operation, the park will collect recyclables – paper, glass, aluminum, and motor oil from members’ residences and clubhouse, use products throughout the Park that contain post-consumer and pre-consumer recycled content, invest in alternative energy vehicles, such as those that run on natural gas and start an online membership registration and paperless statements to reduce waste.
