• Adam Voorhees’s hydrogen and solar-powered Riparian project

The Riparian project is to explore the potentials of adaptive and flexible systems to redefine the yacht and also to provide the ultimate experience of living on the sea. Yup! It is truly an experience. The sound of the waves, the sea-birds, the breeze! It’s wonderful. The purpose of the project is to create a provocative conversation between the user, his yacht and the environment. All these elements that are interdependent and essential define a condition where the yacht has to adapt and transform to reflect the dynamic context of the surrounding it is in. The yacht is self sufficient which is the strong motivator for the design of the Riparian. The yacht does not rely on fossil fuels and uses only hydrogen and the sun to fuel it. It has an advanced fuel cell system and photovoltaic’s embedded in the super structure which provides all the energy that is needed for the propulsion and the onboard systems. All the materials that are used are also eco-friendly, sustainable and of long life. The Riparian also complies with RINA Green star regulations. Well to sum it up that is one eco-friendly and out-of-the-box yacht concept I have seen.
