• Honda into recycling for a cleaner future

  • Honda-Logo.jpg Honda Motor Co. is a leader in sustainability and also for alternative fuel technology. It is expanding it to recycling of end-of-life products and the recovery of parts. Honda has sold highly functional recycled parts to customers in Japan since 1998 and went a step ahead in 2001 by marketing its reused parts. With this Honda has achieved a re-use rate of 84%. In 2007, Honda also succeeded in recovering approximately 27% of oil filters sold in Japan and plans to make further efforts to increase the number of end-of-life filters collected.

Honda Australia has achieved many milestones in the area of recycling and being green. For instance they have recycled over one tonne of food scraps from their head office canteen which is being used in agricultural areas including flower farms and market gardens. They have also recycled 80 tonnes of cardboard, used office paper, glass, plastic bottles, aluminium cans, steel etc. Over 50% of the lighting is certified to be energy efficient. The workshop also recycles 95% of water used in the wash-bay saving approximately 132,000 litres every year. Well that is one of hell of a job Honda is doing for our Planet. I guess it is high time others followed suit.
