Whirlpool releases energy-efficient smart clothes dryer plans
Well known home appliances brand Whirlpool has announced plans to produce one million smart clothes dryers by the end of 2011 which will be a quarter of its expected production by 2015. The smart dryers are expected to bring about lower electricity bills saving as much as $20 to $40 per year. The dryer will work in a smart system where it will power down during peak hours of energy use. The price of these are also not expected to be much more than the regular ones.
Whirlpool also has announced that they are putting more effort and time into developing more smart grid systems. Even GE has released plans of having smart water systems such as a smart water heater.
