• LED displays and sun shields combine, the SolPix

  • SolPix.jpg
The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum’s Design Triennial will have the SolPix on display, a LED display that doubles up as a solar shield, to keep the sun out. Using the SolPix media wall is an added advantage, since it acts as heavy duty blinds that adjust automatically to the strength and heat of the sun rays. These blinds are integrated with photovoltaic cells and LEDs. The energy gathered from the sun by the photovoltaic cells is used to power up the LEDs and create the images on the façade.

Produced by Simone Giostra & Partners Architects, the prototype of the SolPix is sure to grab loads of attention and we might soon see some of these lighting up the buildings around us.
