    Asus’s new bamboo-shelled notebooks are not-so-green

    Asus-bamboo-shelled-notebooks.jpg
A year ago, Asus came up with the idea of giving their laptops a touch of green with bamboo cases. And that’s exactly what the company did, designing and producing the Bamboo Covered U6V Notebook. The company had hinted using bamboo for their notebooks in 2007 too with the EcoBook concept design. This was then followed by their oh-so-green U6Vmodel sporting a Core 2 Duo T9400, GeForce 9300M GS, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/, Blu-ray drive and HDMI Out and available in select countries. Asus are at it again, this time with the U Series Bamboo Collection at CES 2010. The company released two new models, the U43JC and U43F both sporting a 14″ LED-backlit screen.

The world’s most energy saving capability achieved with new ultra-battery

    ultra-battery.jpg
The God of batteries is here, combining together a few elements, and capable of storing more energy than any other battery that has ever surfaced the earth. This ultra-battery is basically created from xenon, some fluoride, and pressures similar to those found at the center of the Earth. In depth, the battery is made of material known as xenon difluoride (XeF2), a white crystal primarily used to etch silicon conductors. This crystal was placed in a diamond anvil cell, a tiny device that measures only two inches by three inches that uses two tiny diamond anvils to produce incredibly high pressures in tiny, contained spaces. Sounds space-age, doesn’t it?

This never seen before technology opens doorways to a whole new age of computing, green and energy efficient unlike the previous generations. Using water at temperatures of up to 140 degrees, this cooling system, christened the Aquasar, consumes up to 40 percent less energy than a comparable air-cooled machine. Using the waste heat to provide warmth to the university building, the Aquasar helps wipe out the carbon footprint to a further extent.
