• Splinter Bike made completely out of wood by Michael Thompson

This bike couldn’t have been more appropriately named, the Splinter Bike. Made completely out of wood, the bike has every single part made from either birch plywood, Lignum Vitae, Ekki or an old broom handle. The idea was conceived by designer Michael Thompson, six months after making a joke bet, proving that just about anything could be constructed from wood! Taking about a thousand hours to build this marvelously clean way to travelling, though seemingly uncomfortable, Thompson’s bike weighs in at 68 pounds.

The wooden tires and hard wood seat though might just be a pain in the backside, literally, and Thompson’s buddy, Ekki Tully will attempt a world record on it. Well, we wish him and his back all the very best!
